Jamshedpur :- THE DUMPING AREA IN THE HEART OF CITY IN Marine drive which is a JNAC owned dumping area, where the waste management system seems to be crashed and needs immediate soultions. The dumping area is on an open land nearby the new bridge on left of Marine drive, where the waste seems to jump into the streets as well.

WASTE DUMPED IN THE STREETS

The plastic wastes are set to fire resulting in degrading air quality index of Jamshedpur, leading to toxicity increasement of the air, which if not monitored now and a negligible behaviour towards the present condition can be hazardous, toward environment factors such as lower air quality index ,higher air pollution, even on human respiratory system by inhaling those lower quality air that is a result of these plastic burning, which can also result in loosing the fame of being one of cleanest city of India. The scenarios are a direct slap to SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN inaugurated by our honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The plastic wastes burning

As per sources, when it was aked to build a wall or boundary covering the area it was told that the land is of Jusco and they are not permitting to cover the area by building a boundary wall which is leading to many other problems rising, like the waste coming out of the dumping area into the streets ,people knowingly or not knowlingly throwing waste nearby the roads only. Moreover as the site is open children from nearby areas are seen gathering plastic bottles, plastic bags and other several things and selling it in nearby Mango. These children are local residence and due to their financial condition they are forced to work in such a hazardous area ,which can cause them serious skin disease and other diseases that can eventually harm them in later stages.

Another issue is of waste management of segregration it into wet and dry waste that seems to be a total failure here. Acc. to some sources, at present there are various awareness programs running regularly within the city to spread awareness among the citizens to segregate their waste into dry and wet and then dispose by JNAC ,but the results are very poor. People are not taking the repurcessions of the waste management seriously, and needs strict penalization.

Strict laws are to implemented for people who disobeys the practice to dispose the waste in the disposal vans or found to throw the waste nearby or anywhere .

According to JNAC,the disposal van runs daily through the city, but people still prefer to throw waste in front of their houses or aside of roads .The officals are trying hard to make people understand the importance of waste management and it’s segregation.Various program like DO NOT MIX are regurarly being monitored and organized in schools and other areas that is under the jurisdiction of JNAC.

But the question arises that despite of such attempts and awareness program being organized ad conducted on a regular basis WHY people are lagging behind and WHAT can be the most effective solution to resolve these problems????
